This 2-day course covers environmental monitoring programs with relevance to industries in Kuwait and in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). The training provides participants with the fundamental skills necessary to properly manage continuous emissions monitoring systems (CEMS), noise, and odor requirements. In addition, attendees will also learn how to observe/oversee relative accuracy test audits (RATA), review emission data, and evaluate the quality of the data used for decision-making purposes.

This course will first address requirements and technical issues in the field of CEMS. Specifically customized for the oil & gas and petrochemical facilities, the course highlights local programs requiring CEMS, certification and quality assurance requirements.

The remainder of the course will focus on noise and odor management, measurement and monitoring. Ambient odor monitoring and reporting will be covered detailing odor emissions characterization and approved sampling and measurement methods. The noise monitoring part will detail equipment and methods needed for site assessment and sample characterization for determining noise levels. Further, noise and odor mitigation principles and management will be discussed.

The course is designed for engineers and other technical personnel responsible for environmental monitoring programs.

Course Instructor: Eric Wiley, B.A.

Mr. Eric Wiley serves as a senior consultant in Trinity’s Southern California office and travels to other parts of the world as needed to assist our international clients. Mr. Wiley has over 14 years of air quality monitoring and regulatory compliance experience, ranging from source testing to Continuous Emission Monitoring System (CEMS) management and maintenance, to permitting and compliance with air quality regulations, in Air Quality Districts in California and other regions across the United States. More specifically, he has conducted numerous source tests, including Relative Accuracy Test Audits (RATA’s), in accordance with local District and EPA requirements. He has also managed CEMS maintenance, compliance and quality assurance for multiple facilities.

Over the years, Mr. Wiley has accumulated a detailed understanding of how CEMSs operate from equipment maintenance and repair to writing and implementing QA/QC procedures to air quality compliance reporting requirements and testing. His experience with CEMS also includes design, installation, training and trouble shooting.

Course Instructor: Arun Kanchan, M.S., MBA

Mr. Kanchan has 24 years of experience in the air quality engineering field. He currently serves as Director of International Operations on behalf of Trinity Consultants. Based in Qatar, Mr. Kanchan directs projects, contracts, and client relations for the GCC. Previously, he was Principal Consultant in Trinity’s New Jersey, Dallas, and California offices. His work includes air quality permitting, air quality modeling, agency negotiations, due- diligence audits, compliance auditing, criteria and GHG emissions inventories, regulatory compliance analyses, incineration system design, evaluation and specification of air pollution control equipment, continuous emission monitoring, and the development of custom application software for environmental compliance tracking. In Qatar, Mr. Kanchan has assisted in the development of greenhouse gas management strategies and emissions inventories. He covers current and future international GHG frameworks to identify key trends and best practices relevant to the development of the company’s GHG policy.
